Long cool and green

Summertime sees all my favourite drinks taking on hot weather attire. Tall chocolate milks, black sesame ice smoothies, nuoc chan (lime juice, sugar and a pinch of salt) or just water with a hint of aromatic bitters. But best of all is a long iced green tea.

A third of a teaspoon of matcha (powdered green tea) and some vigourous action with a balloon whisk and you have a most refreshing drink, guaranteed to keep you awake all afternoon. Or at least until lunch time if the day’s a real scorcher.

Special thanks to my lovely friend Geeti for bringing a new shipment of teas back from Japan, all the more appreciated for having run out of the good stuff a few weeks before and being forced to drink supermarket-type green tea.
